Tracking and reporting learning in ECC

These are examples of the Developmental Proformas I collected whilst on my university placements. They are used by Minimbah ECC Educators to assess and track student’s learning throughout the year. When I questioned my mentor as to how frequently they would assess students in this way she answered that it would be dependent on the child and if the staff had any developmental concerns to consider. She stated that they would however aim to collect some form of developmental data at least once per term such as using a self-portrait at the start and end of the year to assess handedness, grip, developmental drawing level and posture; or using Mother’s and Father’s Day crafts as an opportunity to assess scissor skills and the student’s ability to write their name.

We also discussed the expectation and processes involved in seeking support for students with developmental concerns. Above are a few examples of documentation retained by the service from allied health professionals and the educator’s assessments. In this case the student was receiving support from several allied health providers who would be invited to the school twice per year to be included in feedback with parents and development of any Individualised Learning Plans
